What I Miss Most in Palm Coast

by Stephanie Shulas

Introduction

Are you considering a move to Palm Coast, Florida? While there are many great things about living in this area, it's natural to wonder what you might be missing out on. In this article, we'll explore some of the things that people, including myself, miss since moving to Palm Coast. Whether it's the food, activities, or other aspects of daily life, we'll cover it all. So, if you're curious about what you might miss if you make the move to Palm Coast, keep reading!

Food

As someone originally from California, one thing I deeply miss is Mexican food. While there are some good options in Palm Coast, nothing quite compares to the authentic flavors of Southern California or Mexico itself. I've tried everything in the area, but it's just not the same. Similarly, many of my customers who are from up north miss bagels. Even homemade bagels in Palm Coast don't quite stack up to what they can get in the New York and New Jersey area. The water here seems to affect the taste and texture, leaving them longing for the bagels they used to enjoy.

Activities

When it comes to activities, one thing I miss is hiking. While there are plenty of walking trails in Palm Coast, it's not quite the same as starting at the bottom of a mountain or hill and working your way up to the top. The reward of a stunning view from the mountaintop is something that can't be replicated in Florida. Similarly, many of my customers miss having a centralized shopping area. Palm Coast lacks a downtown area where you can easily walk from shops to restaurants and other services. Instead, they either visit the outlets in St. Augustine or Daytona or make the trip to Jacksonville for bigger name brand stores.

Walkability

Another aspect that people miss when they move to Palm Coast is walkability. Unlike cities with a proper downtown area, Palm Coast doesn't have a centralized hub where you can walk from your home to shops, restaurants, and other amenities. While there are smaller courtyards and neighborhoods with shops, it's not the same as having a bustling downtown area.

Seasons

Surprisingly, some people miss having distinct seasons when they move to Palm Coast. While Florida's warm weather is a draw for many, some individuals long for the changing seasons they experienced elsewhere. However, once they go back home and experience the snow, they quickly realize that they don't miss it enough to leave Palm Coast.

Conclusion

While there are a few things that people miss when they move to Palm Coast, it's important to note that there are alternatives and workarounds for many of these things. For example, if you miss Mexican food, you can learn to make it at home or enjoy it when you visit family in your hometown. And while Palm Coast may not have a centralized shopping area or a downtown with walkability, there are still plenty of options for shopping and dining in the surrounding areas. Additionally, the lack of distinct seasons is often outweighed by the beautiful weather and other benefits of living in Palm Coast.

In conclusion, while there may be a few things that you might miss if you move to Palm Coast, Florida, there are plenty of alternatives and wonderful things to enjoy in the area.
